A Snapshot of Your Day (position overview)
Be part of a team of Contract Managers and Legal Counsels, crafting the energy landscape of the future. In this role, you will support Siemens Energy's Grid Technologies and its project business by handling complex contractual matters. This includes analyzing contracts, identifying risks, negotiating agreements, and advising project and site management in large-scale projects.
You will act as a senior advisor to project leadership proactively ensuring consistent adherence to Siemens Energy’s contract and claims strategies throughout project execution, including proactively identifying, developing, and advancing contractual entitlements and claims, and resolution options, in accordance with established claims management processes.
You will be exercising independent judgment on risk, claims strategy, and dispute positioning, and serving as a key escalation point and advisor for complex contractual issues.
How You’ll Make an Impact (responsibilities)
- Providing advice and support for customer contracts, consortium agreements, and sub-contracts to strictly protect Siemens Energy’s rights and entitlements.
- Supporting in contractual and commercial matters, such as the change order processes and reviewing and drafting of relevant correspondence.
- Identifying all relevant technical, commercial, and contractual aspects to support the set-up of project-specific claim strategies.
- Contributing to pursuing and defending incoming and outgoing claims by collecting and advising on relevant project records, documentation, and all pertinent facts.
- Collaborating with legal teams by providing support in substantiating relevant facts for claiming quantum, extension of time, and establishing factual defenses in arbitration proceedings.
- Performing quantum or delay analyses to establish causation for relevant events impacting the project schedule and/or the scope of work.
What You Bring (requirements)
- 5–10 years of demonstrated success managing complex commercial contracts while supporting multiple projects simultaneously, including claims management.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience in project execution.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to effectively support and contribute within a matrixed negotiating team.
- Self-driven, pragmatic problem-solver with the ability to analyze complex issues and make sound, actionable recommendations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely across all levels of internal and external stakeholders.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing requirements, schedules, and priorities, with willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
