Over de functie
We are looking for a Manufacturing Engineer in Rural Hall, NC for development and implementation of manufacturing work instructions for complex machining processes including line-ups, standard operating processes, and quality control process sheets for non-conventional machining processes, such as EDM and ECM.
- Collaborate with management, product engineering, peer engineers, and operators to realize high quality, stable processes for complex, non-conventional machining production of rotating blades and stationary vanes components.
- Development of Manufacturing Quality Control Plans / Part Inspection Plans for managing and improving capability of the production process.
- Scheduling, design of experiments, experimentation, reporting, documentation with full responsibility for due dates, results and costs associated with field of activities.
- Responsible for quality control information (manual and Coordinate Measurement Machine, CMM, dimension checks) and work with production personnel to adjust production run machining processes.
- Implement, troubleshoot, and improve machining and associated processes.
- Collaborate with Quality Engineer to conduct Root Cause Corrective Analyses.
- Lead continuous process improvements (analysis, solution finding, implementation) around machining processes and methods.
- Perform and assess manufacturing data to determine opportunities for improvement and lead teams to successfully implement changes.
- Support quoting efforts by providing cost estimates.
- Assist and provide direction for design and development of fixturing for machining processes.
- Assist in design of specialty fixturing, tooling, electrodes, for non-conventional machining processes.
- Review tooling inventory and adjust stocking levels based on production run usage.
- Lead and support Capital Expense (CAPEX) projects and Return On Investment (ROI) calculations.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field and 5 years of experience.
- Full term of experience must include: Electrochemical Machining (ECM) process for gas turbines/aerospace turbines;
- Custom tooling and fixture design for non-conventional machining process using CAD software;
- Process development and optimization of non-conventional machining process for gas turbine/aerospace applications;
- MQCP, Gauge R&R, process capability, PFMEA, First Article inspections reports;
- Metallographic examination of recast layer and intergranular attack (IGA);
- Process control for non-conventional machining; and
- Interpretation of product and manufacturing drawing and specifications.
- Experience must also include: Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM);
- Identifying, analyzing, correcting ECM/EDM, and related non-conventional machining process issues such as surface finish, electrode/cathode wear, flushing, erosion rate and dimensional control.
