A Snapshot of Your Day

Professional electrical engineer supporting Bid Management by inquiring electrical main drive components like the main E-drive, medium voltage frequency converter, transformer and/or work at order execution as main contributor for enquiring and executing the electrical main drive portion.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • The Electrical engineer will be involved in Bid Proposals and Sales Support during project bidding where it is expected to attend customer meetings
  • Responsible for fulfilling on time all technical obligations committed by the Company, including those sub-contracted to external suppliers related to Electrical Equipment and testing.
  • Identifying the accessories for cooling, control, monitoring and protection of medium voltage motors, converters and medium voltage transformers
  • Generate and issue requests-for-quotation for MV-Motors and MV-Converters based on project's specification and evaluate the feedback from sub-supplier
  • Review specifications and C&E’s elaboration of Client Document List.
  • Develop and understand single line diagram (SLD) for motor control.
  • Support Project Team to define interfaces for SE Electrical scope, e.g., E-Motor, client, VFD supplier, excitation panel and other related components.
  • Analyze with the document owner the comments received from Customer (or from suppliers) about the submitted documentation. Manage and resolve upon collaborating with the PLE any problematic mark-ups (e.g., unclear or late comments, implicit or explicit requests of non-contractual services).
  • Issue Risk or Opportunity notification to PLE / PM regarding project cost schedule or equipment performance, including proposing of risk mitigation plans.

We work in multi-functional teams generating and developing potential solutions to Product Requirement Specifications generated from Sales/Marketing analysis.

There is an expectation of some travel to visit both suppliers and customers.

What You Bring

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or equivalent).
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience required with Electrical engineering background, or in a similar role. Those with more experience may be considered for a more senior level. 
  • Proven experience with large electrical drives and components like accessories for cooling, control, monitoring and protection of medium voltage motors, converters and medium voltage transformers (with ANSI designations)
  • Understanding and applying Electric Motor design (syn- /asynchronous) according IEC60034, NEMA MG 1 and API 541/546. Understanding and applying Explosion Protection Methods according to IEC 60079 and NFPA 70 NEC 500 / 505
  • Understanding fundamentals of MV-Converter topologies (VSI vs. LCI)
  • Understanding the context between load curve of driven machine and characteristic motor starting diagrams
  • At least 2 years Co-ordinating with multiple parties’ projects including internal project team members, client staff, vendors, sub consultants and general contractors.
  • Strong soft personal skill i.e. team player, willingness for global corporation, open for multi-cultural relationships, intercultural competence, cost and schedule awareness, good knowledge of spoken and written English, assertiveness
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers
