A Snapshot of Your Day
We are seeking an early to mid-level Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Specialist to join our team at our Gibsonton facility. This role focuses on ensuring comprehensive EHS compliance, particularly with environmental regulations such as the Clean Air Act (CAA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and Clean Water Act (CWA). The ideal candidate will be proactive in upholding high standards of safety and environmental stewardship within a dynamic manufacturing environment. Key responsibilities include managing environmental permits, preparing and submitting regulatory reports, developing and maintaining EHS procedures, and serving as the primary liaison with regulatory agencies. Additionally, the EHS Specialist will support occupational safety programs by conducting risk assessments, leading incident investigations, and promoting a zero-harm culture. Successful candidates will possess a strong technical background in environmental science or engineering, significant hands-on experience in an industrial setting, and exceptional problem-solving and communication skills.
.How You’ll Make an Impact
- Ensure facility compliance with key environmental regulations, including the Clean Air Act (CAA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), and the Clean Water Act.
- Support compliance for the facility’s Air Operating Permit, wastewater discharge permits, and stormwater pollution prevention initiatives.
- Review and support Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), including Tier 2 reporting and Large Quantity Generator requirements.
- Support training and instruction for OSHA and EPA/FDEP regulations, and serve as an inspector for regulatory audits.
- Maintain environmental manuals, procedures, and Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP)
- Support incident investigations, recordkeeping in QT9/Enablon/SharePoint, and the Management of Change (MOC) process, while contributing to safety management systems and key performance indicators (KPIs).
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment. A combination of relevant internship or co-op experience along with professional experience will also be considered.
- Basic understanding of key environmental regulations, including the Clean Air Act (CAA), Clean Water Act (CWA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), and Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA).
- Familiarity with risk assessment, incident investigation, and process improvement methodologies, along with strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) to manage tasks effectively and work independently.
- This position may require an export license from the Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the Department of State, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls. Issuance of any required license is a prerequisite for this position.
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfer.
