About the Role
- Development and maintenance of heat transfer analysis tools and design software for gas turbine components such as blades, vanes, and combustors
- Creation and integration of surrogate models, digital twins, and reduced-order models for thermal/thermodynamic performance prediction and design optimization
- Automation of multi-disciplinary design processes involving heat transfer, fluid dynamics, and mechanical integrity
- Application of AI/ML techniques and Large Language Models (LLMs) to streamline engineering workflows and enhance predictive capabilities
- Collaboration with multi-functional teams for requirements gathering, model validation, and ensuring tool usability and accuracy
- Documentation of software tools and provision of training and support to engineering teams
- Master´s degree or equivalent experience in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering with a focus on thermal sciences
- Long term experience (or a PhD) in the gas or aero turbine industry; experience with AI/ML, digital twins, or data-driven modeling in thermal systems; knowledge of high-performance computing (HPC) and cloud-based simulation environments (e.g., Azure, AWS)
- Strong background in heat transfer, thermodynamics, and gas turbine component design, along with a good understanding of heat transfer analysis tools and gas turbine component fundamentals
- Proficient programming experience (Python, Fortran, bash, C, C++, Linux)
- Eligibility to work on control technology as required by U.S. export control regulations
- In-depth understanding of convection, conduction, film cooling, thermal barrier coatings, and cooling technologies in gas turbines; familiarity with CHT, CFD, FEA, and thermal modeling tools (e.g., ANSYS, Fluent, CFX, or in-house codes); working knowledge of Gitlab and Linux
