A Snapshot of Your Day

We are seeking a Field Service Technician to perform all necessary operating and maintenance work associated with the Sayreville Converter Station under the direction of the O and M Manager or delegate. The successful applicants will carry out these duties on a rotating shift basis in accordance with established schedules. The successful applicants will be required to achieve certification in System Operations as provided by the company.


How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Operate converter plants and auxiliary equipment under normal and emergency conditions.
  • Install and maintain electrical equipment including transformers, circuit breakers, relays, controls, and SCADA systems.
  • Interpret schematics and technical drawings to support troubleshooting and system analysis.
  • Compile maintenance records and reports while ensuring accurate statistical tracking.
  • Prepare detailed switching, tagging, and operating procedures in compliance with safety standards.
  • Lead team development initiatives and contribute to achieving operational goals.


What You Bring

  • Two-year diploma in Electrical or Electronic Technology from an institute of recognized standing preferred.
  • 3 or more years of experience in Electrical Utility sub-station work. Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice-versa.
  • HVDC experience considered an asset; Utility certification for station operation required.
  • Technical proficiency in transformers, circuit breakers, thyristor valves, and related equipment, with adaptability to new systems.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation and the ability to interpret electrical schematics and drawings.
  • Commitment to safety practices including Lock-Out/Tag-Out procedures, and possession of a valid, unrestricted driver’s license.

Ability to travel as business requires.

Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
