As a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE), you will be part of a growing function in a position that entails a large responsibility!
In your role, you will collaborate with suppliers and commodity managers with a shared target to secure qualified deliveries from qualified suppliers. We work in a multi-cultural environment with contacts with different departments locally and globally. Networking is a key for success.
A part of your responsibility within casting commodity, will be supplier qualifications, product and process qualifications, addressing nonconformances, Root Cause Analysis, and implementing preventative measures & risk mitigation measures.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Main interface to supplier on technical and quality aspects. Collaborates with engineering to refine product and process designs to increase manufacturability to improve quality and decrease costs. Also, interface with procurement, quality management on supplier quality topics.
- Supplier Qualification: Assess supplier's sand-casting capabilities, audit supplier quality management system & processes etc.
- Product and Process Qualification: Lead cross-functional team to perform Product and Process Qualification (PPQ) in supply base for sand casted components & assemblies to applicable drawings, process descriptions and standards. Leading PPQ includes providing technical support to suppliers to succeed in meeting Siemens Energy technical and quality requirements for sand casted parts which includes reviewing of proposed simulation models, gating system and metal pouring parameters etc.
- Approve supplier casting process via submitted Manufacturing Quality Control Plan and FMEAs.
- Perform product inspections during execution of Product and Process Qualification. Inspection includes dimensional & geometrical, functional test and review of inspection reports.
- Identify and initiate containment on any identified non-conformances. Follow-up with root cause corrective and preventive action as needed.
- Define inspections and test plans for sand casted parts according to Siemens Energy drawings and specifications.
- Supplier Development: Support supplier evaluation based on regular analysis of supplier quality performance. Initiate and implement supplier quality improvement programs, quality root cause analysis and definition of appropriate risk mitigation measures at the supplier.
- Assist commodity / strategic buyer in identifying new suppliers and provide recommendations for sourcing strategy.
- Responsibility to comply and / or implement the protocols, policies, guidelines, and proficiencies of the current integral management system (EHS, Quality etc.)
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in sand casting, foundry engineering, material engineering.
- 5+ years of professional experience as a Casting Expert / Manufacturing Engineer and/or Supplier Quality Engineer with expertise in Sand Casting.
- You are experienced in qualifying suppliers for sand casted parts for large rotating and reciprocating equipment’s using Product and Process Qualification process which is equivalent to PPAP / APQP.
- You have experience in leading projects and running virtual cross-functional teams in an international environment. You are a self-starter, driven and self-reliant; your organization, strategic, analytical thinking, leadership skills and intercultural expertise round up your profile!
- Computer skills: MS Office, SAP ERP
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 20-40% of time.

This job is based in New York. Siemens Energy offers a variety of health and wellness benefits including paid time off and holiday pay. Details regarding our benefits can be found here: https://benefitsatenergy.com/thinking-of-joining.html. The base salary range for this position if based in New York is $81,300-$110,000. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, skills, certifications, and other business needs. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individuals' qualifications.
