Senior Project Manager at Siemens Energy
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the successful execution of complex energy projects across Eastern and Southern Africa, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and in full compliance with contractual, safety, and quality requirements. The role serves as the first line of escalation for project-related issues, providing leadership and direction to project teams while supporting the Lead of Order Execution. In addition to delivering projects, the Senior Project Manager acts as a mentor, actively developing intermediate and junior project managers to strengthen organizational capability and succession readiness
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Lead end-to-end execution of complex and high-value projects, from order intake through to final completion and handover.
- Ensure adherence to Siemens Energy project management standards, governance frameworks, and compliance requirements.
- Drive project performance in terms of cost, schedule, scope, and quality.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and opportunities proactively.
- Manage customer relationships, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and trust.
- Oversee contract management, including claims, variations, and commercial negotiations.
- Act as the first line of escalation for all project-related issues within the project management team.
- Resolve operational and strategic challenges before escalation to the Lead of Order Execution.
- Provide structured, timely reporting on project performance, risks, and escalations.
- Ensure governance standards are maintained across all assigned projects.
- Facilitate decision-making by providing clear recommendations and risk assessments.
- Team Leadership & Management
- Allocate resources effectively across projects to ensure optimal delivery.
- Provide guidance, support, and oversight to ensure consistent project execution standards.
- Encourage collaboration across engineering, procurement, commercial, and site teams.
- Actively coach and mentor intermediate and junior project managers, supporting their professional growth.
- Identify development gaps and create structured upskilling plans (technical, commercial, and leadership competencies).
- Facilitate knowledge sharing, lessons learned, and best practices across the team.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
- Support succession planning and build a strong project management pipeline.
- Interface with customers, suppliers, internal stakeholders, and senior leadership.
- Ensure alignment across all project stakeholders.
- Represent project management in internal governance and review meetings.
- Drive initiatives to improve project execution efficiency, cost control, and quality.
- Promote digitalization and use of project management tools.
- Capture and implement lessons learned to enhance future project delivery.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree /B tech/National Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or related field.
- PMP, IPMA, or equivalent project management certification.
- 8–12+ years of project management experience, preferably in the energy, EPC, or infrastructure sectors.
- Proven experience managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects.
- Demonstrated leadership experience with team management responsibilities.
- Strong leadership and people development skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and escalation management capabilities.
- Advanced stakeholder and customer management skills.
- Commercial acumen and contract management expertise.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, matrix organization.
