A Snapshot of Your Day 

As a Lead Engineer for Protection Systems in HV Projects at Grid Automation, you will plan and engineer projects of Protection and Control Systems for High Voltage Switchgear. The development of concepts according to customer specifications, including budgetary price estimations, is also part of your day. You have the capability to support our customers in decision making for the optimized protection and control system concept. You will act as the bid manager and work together with project management and other domain experts within your team.

How You’ll Make an Impact 

• Design of protection and control system according to the customer specifications
• Technical clarifications with customers, EPCs and consultants and selection of appropriate protection devices according to customer requirements
• Creation of budgetary proposals for protection systems
• Creation of project specific technical specifications, documents, manuals, etc.
• Supervision and quality assurance of external suppliers in the fields of secondary protection systems
• Conduct customer training and support commissioning activities
• Act as a Bid Manager and leading Protection and Substation Automation Team members to deliver solutions in Brazil.
• Taking responsibility for quality, time, and costs of own results

What You Bring

• Completed university degree in electrical engineering, automation or comparable education
• 12 or more years of professional experience with protection systems
• 5 or more years of experience working with brands such as SIEMENS (SIPROTEC), Hitachi Energy, SEL, GE for HV substations
• Knowledge within different protection philosophies and protection test equipment
• Good understanding of the power distribution / transmission market and technologies, mainly in protection and control solutions
• Takes on Ownership: takes personal responsibility for solving problems; Acts as an Ambassador: Understands market drivers; focusing on the customer’s perspective when setting priorities and taking action. Driven by impact and focused on results
• Willing and able to travel up to 30% domestically and occasionally internationally
• Must be fluent in Portuguese and English languages
