The role of a Product Detail Design Detailer is to create all drawings, models, assemblies, and bills of material to industrial and company standards. These models and drawings consist of 3D NX models, 2D line work, and all the necessary reference information that allows downstream users to fully understand the scope of a given project. Also, on any given day you may attend scope kickoff meetings, answer questions from Siemens Energy manufacturing facilities and vendors, and as a senior member of the team there will be many opportunities to mentor others on the product design drafting team. This position does not have direct reports. Excellent collaboration and communication is critical to this role.

Equally important to this role, is the growth experience this position offers the successful applicant beyond just the checker function. This position offers the applicant the ability to interact with the global Siemens-Energy Turbo Compression products (TCP) Organization and the potential to expand their role.

The position reports directly to the Product Design Drafting Manager for the TCP Product line.

This position can be located at the Siemens-Energy facility in either Olean, NY, Painted Post, NY, or Bethlehem, PA depending on the candidate’s skills/experience.

How You’ll Make an Impact

• Maintain precise and orderly engineering records, adhere to all processes, and secure necessary approvals.
• Generate detailed component drawings and materials lists for centrifugal compressors (that include components such as bearings, seals, stationary and rotating components), ensuring manufacturing efficiency and compatibility between parts.
• Craft precise drawings and models by employing cost-effective manufacturing techniques for machined and fabricated parts. Guarantee consistency to the principles of Form, Fit, and Function, ensuring compatibility and integration of mating parts prior to production release.
• Employ proper dimensioning techniques in accordance with drafting standards and perform self-verification of drawing and material accuracy.
• Support quality control by assisting in the evaluation of vendor drawings and addressing part non-conformances alongside factory inspectors and design engineers.
• Engage in process improvement initiatives and contribute to the development and enhancement of design tools, product improvements, and engineering standards for turbomachinery.
• Undertake additional tasks as needed to ensure the overall success of the product line.

What You Bring

• Associate's degree in drafting/CAD or relevant certifications, with 0-2 years of experience, preferably in NX design drafting. Those with more experience may be considered for a more senior level.
• Proficient in PLM (Product Lifecycle Management)(Team Center/Globus) and ERP (Enterprise resource planning) systems (SAP), with a strong foundation in Microsoft Office and advanced 2D/3D CAD skills.
• Exhibits strong analytical capabilities, capable of performing detailed engineering calculations with a high level of attention to detail.
• Demonstrates the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, maintaining enthusiasm and intensity in collaborative environments.
• Possesses excellent organizational and time management skills, ensuring efficient workflow and project management.
• Flexible and prepared for domestic and international travel on short notice, anticipating travel requirements of 5-15%.

Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, skills, certifications, and other business needs. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual’s qualifications.
