A Snapshot Of Your Day

As a qualified Mechanical Technician in Field Service, you’ll be based on customer sites across the UK and Ireland, with opportunities to work overseas when required. You’ll work on large-scale power stations and rotating plant, carrying out maintenance activities that keep critical energy infrastructure running. In this role, you’ll be part of small and large teams, motivated by safety and quality, always aiming to get it right the first time.

How You’ll Make An Impact

  • Undertake Field Service work as a Mechanical Technician on customer sites.
  • Apply trade-specific skills and broader mechanical competencies to complete tasks safely and effectively.
  • Follow instructions from the Supervisor or Site Manager while taking responsibility for your own work.
  • Identify and report defects or issues to the appropriate level.
  • Support daily work execution and contribute to problem-solving on-site issues.
  • Complete inspection records accurately and on time.
  • Work in line with risk assessments, method statements, and safety practices.
  • Show motivation and commitment to site programmes.
  • Take part in training to develop skills, and support the training of junior colleagues when required.
  • Maintain exceptional attendance, punctuality, and time management.
  • Support company-wide initiatives such as Zero Harm, Talk to Me, and Right First Time.
  • Be available for frequent travel within the UK and overseas.

What You Bring

  • A time-served electrical/mechanical apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • At least 3 years’ mechanical fitting experience, ideally in power stations or construction sites.
  • Knowledge of gas turbines, steam turbines, or generators (preferred).
  • Understanding of turbine auxiliary systems (advantageous).
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Flexible approach to adapt to the needs of site work.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Good organisational and time management skills.
  • Computer literacy is an advantage

Our Gas Services division offers Low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators. Decarbonization opportunities through service offerings, modernization, and digitalization of the fleet.
