A Snapshot of Your Day

As an IT Admin / Computer Systems Design Engineer, you are part of the IT expert team and the interface between our customers, the projects/offers and our development. You plan project installations and provide technical support to the administration team. You initiate necessary new developments and supervise them through to implementation. During the project period, you will be available to the projects and their customers to answer questions and set up the PC systems with all the necessary services for the HVDC projects. They are involved in the planning, installation and monitoring of projects and ensure that they are completed on time and within budget.

You will work with the Engineering Manager – HVDC C&P and will be required to provide engineering work packages in line with project and business objectives.


How You’ll Make an Impact

  • As an expert you interface between the customer, the projects, our development and the specialist departments.
  • You will design, implement, and manage virtual environments for critical infrastructure and select the necessary hardware.
  • Your responsibilities range from installing the operating systems and configuring the systems to setting up user authentication, authorization, and all other IT services.
  • You will carry out the system integration and commissioning of the specific components (servers, workstations, thin clients) and check the configurations and hardening measures.
  • You build the associated documentation, answer customer questions, and help to keep the knowledge base up to date.
  • You illustrate our concepts to the customer, explaining the differences and advantages over alternative solutions.
  • You recognize the needs behind the requirements of our customers and work out new concepts together with our development department.

What You Bring

  • You bring one of the following credentials to this role:
    • BS or MS in Computer science or business informatics
    • Electrical engineering with a focus on IT 
    • Successfully completed training as an IT Specialist in system integration with professional experience in IT administration.
  • Several years of professional IT, ideally in projects.
  • Knowledge in the areas of:
    • Design creation of IT architecture ideally in project business.
    • Virtualization (preferably Hyper-V) and Active Directory administration in small to medium-sized companies.
    • Windows operating systems (Microsoft certifications), software installation and error analysis
  • Experience in project management, customer clarification, working in intercultural and virtual teams.
  • Ideally knowledge of relevant rules and regulations in the field of cybersecurity (e.g. IEC 62443, NERC CIP, BDEW Whitepaper, ISO27001, CIS).
  • You communicate confidently in English and know how to influence others.
  • High level of initiative and strong communication skills.
  • Team focused and the ability to work effectively with different collaborators.
  • Willingness to travel 5-10%.
