A Snapshot of Your Day

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Sales Director to establish and lead our sales operations in Japan for the offshore wind sector. This pivotal role is responsible for driving market entry, achieving ambitious sales targets, and positioning our company as a key player in Japan's growing renewable energy landscape. The Sales Director will be instrumental in building our presence from the ground up, developing key relationships, and executing a comprehensive sales strategy. The successful candidate will cooperate with our APAC team and the Europe-based HQ to identify major project opportunities, and negotiate and close high-value contracts for offshore wind solutions. A critical aspect of this role is the cultivation of strong, long-term relationships with key customers, government bodies, regulatory agencies, and industry partners to navigate the local market dynamics effectively. We are looking for a results-oriented leader with a proven track record in large-scale energy or infrastructure project sales within Japan. This individual must possess exceptional business acumen, strong negotiation skills, and the ability to build and mentor a high-performing local team. The ideal candidate will combine strategic thinking with a hands-on approach, demonstrating the ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy and drive business growth in a competitive environment.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • 40% Customer & Stakeholder Relationship Management
    • Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key customers, industry partners, and governmental and regulatory bodies in Japan.
    • Act as the key spokesperson and interface towards the Japanese government on all offshore wind related topics.
    • Act as the senior point of contact for key accounts, serving as a trusted advisor to understand their strategic needs and challenges.
    • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and high-level meetings to enhance brand visibility and network with key stakeholders.
  • 40% Market & Competitive Intelligence
    • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and policy developments within the Japanese renewable energy sector.
    • Identify and assess new business opportunities, potential risks, and areas for strategic growth.
  • 20% Strategic Sales Planning & Execution
    • Develop and execute a comprehensive sales strategy for the Japanese offshore wind market to achieve revenue and market share objectives.
    • Prepare and present sales forecasts, pipeline reports, and strategic market analyses to senior leadership.

What You Bring 

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Master's degree in a relevant discipline is considered a significant advantage.
  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in senior sales or business development roles, preferably within the energy, renewables, or heavy infrastructure sectors in Japan.
