A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Graduate Manufacturing Engineer, you will play an integral role in supporting the safe, efficient, and highquality manufacture and refurbishment of components within our Newcastle facility. You will work directly on the processes that underpin our machining, repair, and overhaul activities, gaining handson experience with modern CNC machining centres, precision inspection methods, and legacy process knowledge unique to our site.
You will be embedded in a team that blends longstanding expertise with modern manufacturing technology, supporting both daytoday production and strategic improvement initiatives across our machining cells, tooling systems, engineering workflows, and digital manufacturing capabilities.
How You'll Make an Impact
Key Responsibilities
- Manufacturing Engineering Support
- Assist in defining and improving machining and manufacturing methods for components produced in Newcastle, including CNC turning, milling, grinding, and specialist repair processes.
- Support senior engineers in developing accurate, structured manufacturing documentation such as routings, SOPs, tooling lists, and quality acceptance standards.
- Provide onthefloor support to operators and technicians to resolve technical issues and maintain output.
- Tooling, Fixtures & CNC Programming
- Contribute to the design, specification, and upkeep of tooling and fixturing used within our machining centres.
- Support the creation and modification of CNC programs and develop understanding of postprocessors (with training).
- Help maintain CAD/CAM models for manufacturing and measurement requirements.
- Process Improvement & Technical Projects
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on process reliability, quality, health & safety, and cost effectiveness.
- Help analyse production performance data to identify improvement opportunities in machining capability, setup optimisation, and tool life.
- Contribute to small engineering projects, including equipment upgrades, layout improvements, and digital manufacturing initiatives.
- Reverse Engineering & PreProduction Support
- Assist with reverseengineering activities, working with Quality and Engineering to capture dimensional and process requirements for nonOEM manufacture.
- Support preproduction trials, validation activities, and tooling readiness for new or modified components.
- Quality & Compliance
- Ensure manufacturing processes comply with Quality, Health & Safety, and environmental standards.
- Participate in rootcause analysis and support implementation of corrective actions.
What You Bring
- Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, or General Engineering (2:1 or above preferred).
- A practical mindset and enthusiasm for handson, shopfloorbased engineering.
- Strong analytical, problemsolving, and communication skills.
- Interest in machining, CAD/CAM, tooling, and production technologies.
- Ability to work effectively in teams and build strong relationships with operators, technicians, and engineers.
- Exposure to CAD/CAM systems, with familiarity in Siemens NX, Creo, and Vericut being beneficial.
