A Snapshot of Your Day

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to work with Customers for long term service projects representing Siemens Energy Gas Service business? We are looking for an experienced commercial professional to handle long-term service tenders and frame contracts from commercial point of view.

In this role you will report to the Head of Finance Pacific sub-region based in Australia and be responsible for managing all commercial and financial topics throughout the sales/ bid process for Gas Service Distributed business. You will be trained and guided by a senior commercial sales manager, and work alongside Sales & Tendering team, with the support of legal team and other relevant stakeholders. Further, you will interact with a very diverse and international team within the Asia Pacific region. The successful applicant will join our existing team at our Melbourne office. Other Australia major capital cities will also be considered if required.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • In your role as Commercial Sales Manager, together with the Sales Manager you will analyze customer requirements, evaluation methods and criteria in order to develop the winning strategy
  • Understand business conditions as well as competition pricing
  • Manage all commercial aspects of the bid such as contract analysis, cost calculation check, financing concepts, currency, risks and opportunities, bonds, terms of payment, credit rating, insurance, export control, compliance etc.
  • Prepare and present the commercial part of internal approval process including Limits of Authority (LoA). Ensure the correctness of the relevant approvals in accordance with the actual negotiations.
  • Manage, undertake and finalize contract reviews, amendments, and facilitate input from key stakeholders including technical and legal teams.
  • Participate in negotiation of commercial T&Cs under the applicable guidelines in coordination with the relevant departments (e.g. Legal, Insurance, Taxes, etc.)
  • Build and maintain close collaboration with stakeholders such as in-house legal counsel, tendering team, sales executives, technical team, procurement managers, and senior management, as well as the company wide commercial team
  • Your hands-on attitude is required to successfully manage the full scope of financial and commercial activities during the sales phase

What You Bring

  • A degree in Business Administration/ Management, Law, Business, Commerce, Economic, Finance, or similar
  • 5 years+ experience in commercial, legal, and/or accounting environment. Exposure to areas such as tendering, commercial project management, project controlling or accounting which includes project financing, accounting and reporting principles will be highly regarded.
  • Analytical thinking and quality-oriented approach, solid professional judgment and problem solving ability are required competencies.

  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Exposure to online collaboration tools and SAP an advantage but not essential.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, drafting and presentation skills in business English.
  • Experience in the Energy sector will be highly regarded though not essential.
  • Confidence in working on projects of varying amounts and across various contract structures (Service Agreements, Frame Agreements, Long-Term Programs).
  • Fluent in English
  • Ability to travel is required
