A Snapshot of Your Day

As the Supervisor for the Exciters/Electrical Test Department in the Generator Operations business, your role will involve leading people and projects to ensure flawless completion. You will be responsible for resolving critical customer outages and maintaining the national power supply. Your daily routine will consist of a shift turnover session with the prior supervisor, toolbox meetings on Safety, Quality, and daily assignments, and providing assistance to team members when needed. It is important for you to be present on the floor to maintain smooth operations and promote a culture of safety and peer coaching among operators.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Prioritize Safety and Quality as the foundation of all operations. Performance metrics include delivery, cost, and the development and growth of our people. Scheduling with a firm focus on Safety and Quality is crucial for success.
  • Ensure all manufacturing personnel adhere to safe work practices. Address deficiencies or violations promptly and take corrective action as needed to maintain strict compliance with procedures.
  • Analyze daily operating results, hold daily meetings with direct reports, and collaborate with other supervisors or Manufacturing Engineers to resolve production issues. Ensure that problems are corrected efficiently and maintain inter-departmental cooperation.
  • Continuously improve and develop the production team to increase training and flexibility.
  • Participate and promote continuous improvement/lean activities to meet operational excellence expectations.
  • Motivate operators to meet or exceed hourly targets and encourage innovative ideas to reduce build times further.

What You Bring

  • Required: Engineering Degree with at least 8 years of experience in providing technical oversight in a manufacturing environment. Degrees in Manufacturing, Industrial, and Electrical Engineering are also considered.
  • Proven people leadership skills, including setting expectations, driving accountability, and mentoring for growth and development.
  • Outstanding teamwork, planning, and communication skills to encourage the team and gain customer confidence.
  • Competence in mechanical processes and a detailed understanding of the assembly process to plan efficiently.
  • Ability to make impromptu decisions to allocate production resources impacting customer delivery successfully. Working knowledge of problem-solving techniques. Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team environment. Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office software. Preferred: Conflict resolution experience with an hourly workforce.
