Siemens Energy is currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Test Field Supervisor to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing operational and supporting activities related to electrical tests within our Power Transformers Test Field, ensuring that all products meet the highest standards of quality and performance, along with the utmost operational safety standards. Collaborating with the Head of the Test Field, you will supervise an assigned team of engineers and technicians, working closely together with customers and with the engineering, production, quality, and project execution teams. You will develop, implement, and improve test procedures, organize tasks, set goals, tackle problems and collaborate to maintain a positive and safe work environment.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Supervise an assigned test team in the execution of test plans for power transformers, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer specifications.
- Organize and assign tasks to team members, and track progress.
- Ensure that employees understand the consequences of not meeting customers and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure alignment to safety protocols and procedures in all test operations.
- Proactively act, identifying safety risks and collaborating proposing measures to mitigate them.
- Ensures qualification and competence of the assigned team.
- Develop and implement test procedures, methodologies, and standard processes to enhance test efficiency and product quality.
- Collaborate with the engineering, production and quality teams to identify, register, communicate and resolve test issues, supporting root cause analysis.
- Design and oversee the setup of test equipment, fixtures, and instrumentation required for product test.
- Ensure the maintenance and calibration of test equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
- Handle the documentation of test results, reports, and statistical analysis to support product development, certification, and quality assurance processes.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives in test processes, using new technologies and methodologies to enhance test capabilities and product quality.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the test team, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation.
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams on product and technology development projects, ensuring that test requirements are integrated from the design phase.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field of engineering with 8 or more years of experience in high voltage testing within the power transformer manufacturing industry or high voltage related fields. Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice versa.
- Shown leadership experience in leading engineering or test teams.
- Solid understanding of test standards, quality control principles, and methodologies specific to transformer manufacturing.
- Experience with test equipment, data acquisition systems, and IT tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with all levels of the organization.
- Openness to work different shift schedules.
- If not already located in the Charlotte, NC area, the selected candidate must be willing to relocate.
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
