A Snapshot of Your Day

Do you want to be part of the world’s energy transition? We support customers worldwide in modernizing their equipment and reducing their carbon footprint by delivering customer-adapted control system solutions for our gas and steam turbine fleet. As energy systems evolve, we help meet new demands such as stricter grid requirements, renewable fuels, and improved efficiency.

We are expanding our engineering team with a Control System Engineer for mods and ups projects. In this role, you manage complex tasks and lead the development of control system solutions for your projects, from analyzing the customer’s site and scope to in-house testing in our Finspång facility. All control engineering is handled within the department and coordinated with a lead engineer and sub-project manager. When possible, you may also participate in commissioning through to customer handover.

We offer a hybrid work model, combining office and work from home, with certain phases based in Finspång. With expertise spanning control systems, cybersecurity, and turbine control for gas and steam turbines, you’ll have strong opportunities for personal and long-term development and the chance to help shape the department’s future.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • As a Control System Engineer, you will play a key role in modernizing and enhancing our customers’ equipment across the gas and steam turbine fleet.
  • specific functions.
  • Work throughout the full project lifecycle — from design, implementation, and testing to troubleshooting, commissioning, and service modifications.
  • Contribute to modification, development, and customization of both existing and new standardized control system solutions.
  • At Siemens Energy, you will have the opportunity to grow within your role as a Control System Engineer, as our organization supports work across development, project delivery, troubleshooting, and commissioning for both new installations and service upgrades.
  • Develop and maintain standardized technical solutions that support the modernization of our expanding turbine fleet.
  • Influence future work methods and processes through active participation in continuous improvement and technical development within the team.

What You Bring
  • A degree in Control Systems, such as an MSc or BSc in Engineering, a degree in Automation Engineering, or equivalent professional experience. To thrive in this role, we believe that you have several years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with SIMATIC PCS7 and/or T3000, preferably with a background in control system engineering.
  • Meritorious knowledge of our turbine products, such as: Gas turbines: SGT‑5/6/7/800 and/or Steam turbines: SST‑7/900 & Radial
  • A structured and self‑driven approach to working in complex project environments.
  • Strong collaboration skills and a willingness to support colleagues across the organization.
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written. Knowledge of Swedish is considered a merit.

About the Team

You will join a team of approximately 20 control system engineers working across the full gas and steam turbine fleet, delivering both partial and full modernization projects.

The team is currently focused on two main areas:

  • Migration and cybersecurity: upgrading legacy PCS7 and 800xA installations to the latest versions, including implementing cybersecurity solutions.
  • Major modernization projects: replacing older ABB control systems with modern PCS7 or T3000 platforms.

We operate in an open, collaborative environment with strong knowledge sharing, supporting each other in complex technical challenges such as OPC integration, virtual environments, turbine governors, functional safety, and other advanced control system functions.

Our Gas Services division offers Low-emission power generation through service and decarbonization. Zero or low emission power generation and all gas turbines under one roof, steam turbines and generators. Decarbonization opportunities through service offerings, modernization, and digitalization of the fleet.

We can offer you employment benefits such as: reduction of working hours, advance vacation, health care allowance and an eventual possibility to a flexible working place.
