How to contribute to our vision
This request is to fill a vacant, entry-level Wind Farm Service Technician position due to attrition within the North America Onshore Operations team. The role is critical for supporting the daily maintenance and operational availability of wind turbine assets in the service region. To meet this requirement, the position focuses on two primary areas: hands-on Turbine Maintenance and Repair, which involves performing routine inspections, assisting with diagnostics, and servicing components under close supervision, and ensuring adherence to Safety and Compliance protocols through diligent documentation and following established safety procedures. Given the focus on foundational technical duties, the ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and a commitment to safety. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, while a certificate from a wind energy program is preferred; no prior professional experience is necessary for this supervised, entry-level role.
What You Need To Make a Difference
- 70% Turbine Maintenance and Repair (Supervised)
- Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on wind turbines, including inspections, lubrication, and torqueing of components, following standard procedures.
- Assist senior technicians in troubleshooting and diagnosing basic electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical malfunctions under direct supervision.
- Support the repair and replacement of wind turbine components using hand tools, power tools, and specialized test equipment as directed.
- Learn to read and interpret basic engineering drawings and control system schematics to support maintenance activities.
- 30% Safety, Compliance, and Reporting
- Adhere strictly to all Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) protocols, including working at heights and handling electrical equipment safely.
- Maintain accurate and timely records of all maintenance activities, parts used, and safety observations by completing service reports and logs.
- Monitor basic turbine performance using Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and report anomalies to senior staff.
- Participate in daily safety briefings and contribute to maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Certifications
- GWO (Global Wind Organisation) Basic Safety Training
- OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Certification
Education
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Associate's Degree or a certificate from a Wind Energy Technology program is preferred.
- 0-1 years of related experience; this is an entry-level position where formal training will be provided.
