As a Traveling Troubleshooter, you will be a key technical expert responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex issues on wind turbines across North America. This role requires extensive travel, up to 95%, to various wind farm sites, where you will operate with a high degree of autonomy to ensure the reliability and performance of our renewable energy assets. You will be tasked with performing advanced troubleshooting, inspections, and component repairs on all aspects of the wind turbine, including its electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems. This hands-on position involves working in challenging environments, such as at heights and in confined spaces, while leading small crews and interfacing directly with clients. Your ability to meticulously follow procedures and document your work through detailed reports will be critical to success. We are seeking an experienced Wind Technician with a proven track record of hands-on maintenance and repair. The ideal candidate possesses strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and the capacity to manage tasks independently. A commitment to safety, a willingness to travel extensively, and the physical ability to perform the demanding tasks of a wind technician are essential for this role.

What You Need To Make a Difference

  • 60% Technical Troubleshooting and Repair
    • Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems of wind turbines.
    • Execute complex component repairs, replacements, and retrofits according to engineering specifications.
    • Conduct detailed technical inspections and create reports on turbine conditions and component damages.
    • Utilize specialized test equipment to validate system performance and diagnose faults.
  • 40% Field Operations and Coordination
    • Travel up to 95% of the time to various wind farm locations across the US and potentially Canada.
    • Manage and execute assigned service operations with minimal supervision, often leading small on-site crews.
    • Interface directly with clients on-site to provide progress updates and resolve technical equipment issues.
    • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and regulations, including working at heights and in confined spaces.

Certifications

  • Global Wind Organisation (GWO) Basic Safety Training
  • OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Card

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Wind Technician on a wind farm
  • Vocational or Technical degree in Wind Energy or Electromechanical Technology is a plus
