About the Role
A Snapshot of Your Day
We are seeking a Substation Engineer – Governance to focus on US standards and governance (e.g. IEEE, NERC, EPRI) applied to the power system, including substation environment, assets, and connection lines. In this position, you will work closely with the other Technology, Architecture, and Governance team members across the globe and extend the governance footprint to local (US & North America) requirements.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Contribute to the future of Digital Grid – Grid Enhancing Technologies' (DG GET) portfolio, with a unified and integrated solution for the power system.
- Evaluate how standards and local regulations affect DG GET solutions and provide feedback to the product management team.
- Analyze solutions for data interface and integration between different sources utilizing industry protocols on a substation environment.
- Participate (and be present, when relevant) on technical forums to drive standardizations and studies aligned with DG GET vision.
- Provide technical benchmark based on papers, publications, workshops, webinars, etc.
- Interface with other internal areas to be up to date and, when applicable, lead the implementation of cutting-edge technologies related to asset operation condition.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering, or a related field.
- 5 or more years of experience in substation engineering or related field. Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level.
- Familiarity with standards and regulations applicable to the electric system.
- Knowledge on industrial protocols applied to substation environment.
- Good learner and open to contribute on a diverse technical environment.
- Collaborative worker with a global team.
Travel, as needed, up to 25%.
Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
