About the Role
A Snapshot of Your Day
The Electrical / Civil Purchasing Manager/ is responsible for the estimating, scope of work development, pricing, and procurement of site-specific installation & Civil subcontracts for power transmission and substation construction projects across a mix of customers across the United States!
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Responsible for soliciting subcontractors and developing project costs for proposals and projects for the electrical installation & civil scope of work on GIS & AIS substation projects.
- Responsible for subcontracting the installation & Civil scope of high voltage substation projects, including negotiating price, scope, and terms with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Develop and manage relationships with relevant subcontractors.
- Accurately interpret preliminary electrical & Civil drawings provided by engineering and create project cost estimates.
- Collaborate with subcontractors, equipment manufacturers, vendors, and internal teams to support detailed cost calculations for proposals.
What You Bring
- BS degree preferably in engineering or business management and 3+ years of relevant experience, or 5+ years of relevant work experience in Power Transmission, Substation, or Electrical Construction Estimating or Purchasing.
- Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice-versa.
- Experience in purchasing and estimating in the electrical construction industry.
- Knowledge of electrical systems and components used in high voltage substation construction.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
