About the Role
A Snapshot of Your Day
As an Automation Engineer within the Innovation organization, you will be working in a highly motivated, experienced and interdisciplinary team responsible for designing, developing, and testing cutting-edge advanced robotics and automation solutions across Siemens Energy. This role requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including commercial leads, engineering, and end customers. Responsibilities include strong alignment of customer needs and business objectives to ensure that products fit into overall SE strategy and roadmap. Your mission is to transform innovative robotics concepts into scalable, production‑ready solutions that improve asset availability, productivity, and lifecycle cost across all Siemens Energy business areas, including manufacturing, service, and project execution.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Analyze current production systems to uncover robotics and automation opportunities and introduce new automation technologies into existing industrial environments.
- Scout and evaluate emerging automation and robotics technologies relevant to a growing and evolving market. Support the translation of recommendations into pilots and industrialization initiatives, ensuring production‑ready solutions.
- Construct and test prototypes to validate design concepts and performance, making necessary adjustments based on testing results.
- Partner with electrical engineers, software developers, and product managers to integrate robotic and automation solutions.
- Develop comprehensive documentation for designs, specifications, and testing procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Manage project timelines and deliverables, ensuring that projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Problem Solving: Analyze and troubleshoot mechanical issues, providing effective solutions to enhance product performance and reliability.
What You Bring
- Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in laboratories, test facilities, and research facilities conducting R&D projects
- Experience in mechanical design, automation and robotics in an innovation-driven environment.
- Proficiency in CAD software with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication skills to collaborate with diverse groups of stakeholders and customers.
- Passion for innovation, customer-centricity, and continuous improvement. Highly detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Organized and methodical with excellent follow-up ensuring expectations and deadlines are met.
