A Snapshot of Your Day (position overview)

A technical and customer focused individual, self-starter, providing technical and engineering solutions to customers as business development efforts, in support of critical business objectives.

Application engineer plays a key role in the business processes, by working with customers for the specific requirement of High Voltage sub-station products in the Power Grid, supporting product development with Research and development, and technical offer preparation activities to support the business growth.

How You’ll Make an Impact (responsibilities)

  • Coordinate a business segment area for customer’s technical requirements and guide the team for solutions.
  • Reviewing technical requirements of high voltage sub-station products for specific applications in the power grid.
  • Conducting design reviews with customers and technical consultants to satisfy the technical and engineering needs of applied products.
  • Be part of R&D activities to develop new products, making specific modifications in available products, and work with the engineering team to do customer order engineering.
  • Prepare technical offers of high voltage circuit breakers and Arresters for customers in alignment with available engineering solutions or customize them to satisfy the technical needs of customers.
  • Provide Internal and external Training of high voltage products for the application used at sub-stations in power systems.
  • Work with Renewable power generation companies to help them design applicable circuit breakers and Arrester for Wind and Solar power generation projects
  • Coordinate factory acceptance testing for customers and validate that the engineering solution provided will satisfy the intended application need of the product in the power system.

What You Bring (requirements)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • 5-8 years of experience working in the electrical product business is preferred
  • Self-starting and autonomous with time management and prioritization ability
  • Technical proficiency and problem-solving capability
  • Professional communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to build and complete travel plan in support of field activities; minimum 30% travel required (domestically, and internationally)
  • This is an in-office position with the flexibility of working up to 2 days remotely.
  • SAP or similar enterprise system experience
  • Intimate knowledge of electrical systems
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without the need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
