A Snapshot of Your Day

Siemens Energy has an exciting opportunity for a Civil Structural Engineer to support our Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects in the U.S.

This person will be preparing and delivering designs, and will be interfacing with other internal engineering disciplines, external engineering resources, procurement managers, project engineers, project managers, and construction contractors.


How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Preparing calculations, seismic requirements, drawings, and specifications for grading, buildings, foundations, steel structures, overhead conductors, and rigid bus
  • Developing conceptual designs for pricing and project planning purposes
  • Performing civil and structural detail designs and calculations
  • Reviewing and approving internal and external engineering packages and manufacturer technical documentation
  • Ensuring compliance of internal and outsourced engineering with project requirements, customer specifications, governing standards, and constructability best practices
  • Communicating risks in engineering design and supporting proposal and project execution teams in customer meetings


What You Bring

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis. Master’s degree in civil/structural engineering is preferred.
  • Professional Engineering License in a US state is required.
  • 8 or more years or more of experience in Civil Structural Engineering required. Preference with experience in High Voltage Gas-Insulated Substations, Air-Insulated Substations, Static Var Compensators and Fixed Series Capacitor projects for Utility and Industrial customers. Candidates with more experience can be considered for a higher level or vice-versa.
  • Extensive knowledge of IBC, ASCE, ACI, AISC, ASTM standards.
  • Knowledge of discipline specific software such as Staad Pro, SAP 2000, RISA, L-Pile, SAG-10, PLS-CAD/Lite, etc.
  • Working experience with Revit, Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM360, AutoCAD or Micro-Station.
  • Outstanding team skills and good communication skills.

Travel domestically to customer meetings and to project sites, as needed (~20%)
