A Snapshot of Your Day

What is a normal day for a Power Plant Process Control Service Engineer? Once an order for a Modification or Upgrade Package has been placed, a detailed engineering phase, to which you will contribute, begins.
At the end of this phase, an internal project review takes place. As the engineer responsible for onsite implementation and testing, your contribution to this review is important.

Travel arrangements can now be made including,  visas, pre-departure site inductions and other project specific requirements. You will support this process as required. In parallel a detailed implementation and testing plan will be developed. Depending on the scope of the upgrade you will either lead this process or contribute to it together with specialists from other technical areas such as GT, ST or combustion. One of the principal documents produced in this phase will be a testing load plan. Once agreed internally, the plan will also be agreed with the customer, usually prior to travelling to site.

When onsite, implementation and testing of the upgrades will be carried out in close cooperation with both the customer and, where applicable, other members of a test team. Daily progress reporting may be required and on completion of activities a final report (usually in English) will be prepared for distribution both internally and to the customer.
