Sensors and Actuators System Engineer

A Snapshot of Your Day

Your day focuses on understanding turbine behavior at a system level and ensuring the effective integration of sensors and actuators. You will model their dynamics, define and align clear requirements with stakeholders, and translate complex technical needs into testable, high‑quality solutions. You will also contribute to the development of new control and monitoring functions, including supporting actuator and sensor model development.

Your daily work includes running computational simulations, analyzing large datasets, and participating in real‑world validation studies to compare model predictions with measurement data. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams implement design concepts and deliver robust, reliable solutions that enhance wind turbine performance, safety, and long‑term reliability.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Serve as a system-level engineer for turbine control features, collaborating with safety and control system owners to integrate sensors and actuators into the turbine control system.
  • Collaborate with internal customers and stakeholders, including platform and interface owners, to align on requirements, interfaces, and process workflows.
  • Define clear, measurable requirements with solid acceptance criteria, ensuring all relevant stakeholders are involved throughout the process.
  • Support the design and analysis of new wind turbine control and monitoring functions, including developing models for actuators and sensors.
  • Conduct both computational and experimental performance analysis of wind turbines, planning and executing validation studies that compare simulations with real measurement data.
  • Interface with the software development group to implement design solutions and contribute effectively to technical projects in a self-driven and goal-oriented manner.

What You Bring

  • Strong English communication skills (C1-C2).
  • An advanced technical background with a BSc, MSc, or PhD in Industrial Engineering, Wind Energy Engineering, Control Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience, including hands-on programming in MATLAB/Simulink (mandatory) for simulation and control development, and additional experience with Python or similar languages.
  • Deep knowledge of sensors, actuators and electrical/mechanical systems, including their operating principles, limitations, and integration challenges in complex systems.
  • Proven experience managing and analyzing large datasets and performing engineering analysis, including expertise in measurement techniques, time-series analysis and spectral analysis.
  • Strong analytical mindset, self-motivation, and a proven ability to tackle complex technical challenges through innovation. Able to collaborate effectively with a global multidisciplinary team.
