A Snapshot of Your Day

Your day starts with your own focus time where you define your working agenda for the day.

After that you prepare the first meetings with internal colleagues for an upcoming meeting with your client. In the whole engineering process you are one of the key persons designing the HVDC plant where you have to coordinate different disciplines within engineering, procurement, commissioning and logistics to design the best and cost-efficient layout solution for the project. Soon, you will receive the first calls via Microsoft Teams and you will be involved in the finding of improvements and solutions in your layout concept with the interdisciplinary project team.

Your afternoon starts with a face-to-face customer meeting in our office and your presentation of the solution. Here you will convince your customer of our design  and discuss all open technical questions and change requests.

As it is one of our most important customers, you will then meet internally with the project team to define the next steps in the design process. In the next days, you will mainly coordinate your engineering team and stakeholders involved in the design process to ensure the on-time delivery of defined design updates.

How You’ll Make an Impact
  • Responsible for the overall plant design of HVDC systems considering customer specification, country-specific standards and EHS requirements
  • Lead and manage a global project team of engineers with responsibility on plant design, primary engineering, acoustics and seismic
  • Interface coordination of several engineering disciplines involved in the 3D design process to ensure an integrated design with focus on quality and on-time delivery
  • Ensure project objectives are aligned with organizational goals and customer expectations
  • Develop and maintain detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation
  • Communicate project status, risks, and issues to project management and line management
What You Bring
  • Long-term professional experience in the energy sector, ideally in the field of AC substations, HVDC or FACTS systems
  • Proven experience in project management, with a strong understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
  • Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams
  • Excellent communication skills in English and German, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple topics simultaneously and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Experience in managing cross-functional teams and working in a matrix organization
About the Team

In our multicultural team, we are responsible for the entire design of HVDC and FACTS plant layouts. We form a central function in the design process and are continuously in discussion with all interface partners. In addition to the project business, we are heavily involved in the digitalization of our engineering processes and develop solutions to simplify and automate routine work. As part of the team, you are the driver of our Digital Readiness project, with which we want to make the vision of the Art of Engineering a reality.
