Über die Aufgabe
A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Forward Engineer, your exciting, complicated, and rewarding day is started by being recognized by our Clients, our Company, and the Team as the technical guide and flange-to-flange owner of Turbo-Compressor Modernization, Upgrade, Reinvent, and Footprint replacement projects. You’ll work in a fast-paced environment with a dynamic, engaged, highly inventive, open and collaborative team handling complicated projects for custom engineered solutions related to the transformation of the oil and gas industry!
As the flange-to-flange core compressor project owner, with your broad technical background, you will build and optimize technical solutions that improve the performance, capabilities, reliability, and extend the useful operating life of critical turbo-machinery assets used in the Energy, Oil & Gas, and Chemicals similar industries, which includes Hydrogen, Carbon Dioxide, and other Hydrocarbon applications. You will use your ingenuity and work with a team to meet our customers’ needs and specifications while optimizing mechanical solutions for complex aerodynamic, rotor dynamic, proven mechanic, acoustic, metallurgical, and other reliability challenges for a fleet of legacy and non-OEM machinery including centrifugal and axial turbo compressors, centrifugal pumps, and related equipment!
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Collaborate with team members within this department and across the organization, including but not limited to other engineering specialty subject areas, sales, marketing, quality, manufacturing, supply chain, and project management..
- Lead product design engineering in replacement machinery, machinery revamps, and machinery upgrades, e.g. compressors, pumps, and related equipment, to add performance and reliability capabilities to the machinery and also extending the machinery’s useful life. Coordinate, collaborate, and modernize complex technical matters with stakeholders including: CAD Designers; various Specialist Engineers, e.g. aero/thermo-dynamicists, rotor-dynamicists, metallurgists, proven mechanics analysts, manufacturing engineers, etc; and field service / repair center personnel.
- Ensure product designs are in accordance with contract requirements for the supply of hardware while meeting or exceeding company and product line standards; and, Identify/raise deviations to established standards for management approval.
- Perform engineering investigation, calculation, and analysis for various turbo compressor designs to determine feasibility of, and ultimate implementation of rerates, revamps, and upgrades. Effective decision making, within approved guidelines and established product standards, is a key aspect.
- Analyze test results (field or factory), to evaluate and resolve if thermodynamic performance, design performance, quality, and operating characteristics are aligned with product design.
- Participate in development, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of design tools, product improvements, and engineering standards associated with design, manufacturing, testing, and repair of turbomachinery products.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Aeronautical/Aerodynamic, Chemical or equivalent degrees from an ABET accredited college/university will be considered)
- 5+ years of proven track record of machinery design, rotor-dynamics, strength-of-materials / solid mechanics, materials-of-construction selection, thermodynamics, aerodynamics, fluid dynamics
- Knowledge of turbomachinery theory and thorough understanding of standard engineering principles such as: thermodynamics, aerodynamics, fluid dynamics, rotordynamics, strength-of-materials / solid mechanics, materials-of-construction selection, machinery design.
- Experience working with rotating machinery / turbo-machinery such as centrifugal/radial compressors, axial compressors, expanders, steam turbines. Along with knowledge and understanding of Siemens Energy’s products and services, e.g. Turbo Compressor Brands in portfolio: Dresser-Rand / Clark / Ingersoll-Rand, Cooper, Rolls-Royce, Demag, DeLaval
- Experience in the design, analysis and testing of Axial compressors, Expanders and new turbomachinery. Able to design new footprints from scratch to meet customer process requirements.
- Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally with short notice (estimated 5-15% travel)
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
- This job may be based in New York. Siemens Energy offers a variety of health and wellness benefits including paid time off and holiday pay. Details regarding our benefits can be found here: https://benefitsatenergy.com/thinking-of-joining.html.The base salary range for this position if based in New York is $80,000.00 - $115,000.00 and the annual incentive target is 10% of base salary.
