A Snapshot of Your Day
Imagine starting your day by analyzing structural test results and simulation data that directly influence the reliability of next-generation wind turbine blades. You collaborate closely with structural engineers, materials specialists, manufacturing experts, and test labs to solve real composite integrity challenges. As you move through the day, you ensure alignment with a research lab and university. You balance deep research with practical implementation, supporting production readiness while managing technical risks through validation and analysis. You finish the day mentoring colleagues, documenting findings, and seeing your PostDoc research shape the blade technology roadmap.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Lead and contribute to technology development projects focused on blade structures and composite manufacturing processes
- Develop advanced micro- and macro-scale models describing the evolution of composite damage in wind turbine blades
- Define and apply V&V methods to validate damage models using coupon-level and substructure testing
- Proactively collaborate with internal and external research and technology partners within the program
- Maintain strong technical interfaces within the Blade module to ensure aligned and efficient technology development
What You Bring
- A PhD in Mechanical Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering
- A strong understanding of lightweight structures and composite materials
- The ability to work confidently across both practical engineering challenges and numerical modeling tasks
- A self-driven, structured working style with the ability to manage multiple assignments independently
- Advanced English proficiency, with the ability to communicate complex research results clearly and convincingly
About the Team
You will join the Blade Submodules and Technology Department within Technology at Siemens Gamesa. The team works on advanced blade technologies in an international research-driven environment. Its focus is on composite integrity, structural performance, and manufacturing innovation for wind turbine blades. Collaboration across disciplines is central to the team’s way of working, giving you broad exposure to blade design, testing, and validation. This role offers strong opportunities for both personal and technical growth and a deep understanding of wind turbine blade technology.
