A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Mechanical Test Engineer within Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy, you will spend your days planning and executing mechanical tests, analyzing complex material and structural behavior, working closely with engineers to improve the reliability of current and next-generation wind turbines. Your expertise will be vital in conducting mechanical testing and the subsequent analysis, particularly of fiber-reinforced polymers, to help us face the energy challenges of tomorrow. This position focuses on three core areas: Mechanical Testing, Test Method Development, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. You will leverage your analytical skills and hands-on approach to enhance our understanding of materials and contribute to a sustainable future.
We are currently looking for a Mechanical Test Engineer for our Laboratory team in Aalborg DK.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Mechanical Testing
- Design and execute static and dynamic test programs that validate material performance and key structural behaviours for current and next-generation turbines.
- Maintain and calibrate test equipment and machinery.
- Collaborate with design engineers to specify tests, followed by thorough analysis and reporting.
Test Method Development
- Develop test methods and equipment for mechanical testing.
- Perform fracture mechanics analysis to support and validate test results
- Strive for continuous improvement in testing and characterization methods.
Collaboration with External Partners
- Engage with local and international testing companies and institutions.
- Liaise with suppliers of test equipment and technologies to ensure the best practices are followed.
What You Bring
- A Master’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or a related field; a Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience will also be considered.
- Specialization or experience in mechanical testing, particularly with sandwich materials and fiber-reinforced polymers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; experience with Matlab or similar data processing tools is a plus.
- Strong communication skills and fluency in English, both orally and in writing.
- Personal competencies: Curious and positive by nature, structured, and proactive, with a strong ability to collaborate across disciplines
