A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Material Scientist, you will be at the forefront of researching and studying the structures and chemical properties of various natural and manufactured materials. Your work will involve performing experiments and computer modelling to determine ways to enhance or combine materials with specific properties for use in a variety of products and applications.
You will play a crucial role in addressing challenges related to sustainability, decarbonization, CO2 footprint, as well as REACH and SCIP requirements, which are pivotal for our product development.
This necessitates the development of new materials to meet future specifications. You will be responsible for developing these new materials and testing them to ensure they meet specifications for mechanical strength, strength-weight ratio, ductility, magnetic, and electrical properties, recommending them for reliable performance in various environments
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Basic research and development of solutions for technical, scientific problems
- Scientific and technical support and consultation in the whole product development process
- Analysis of material parameters and material behavior for the usage in the product family transformers and switchgears
- Development and execution of tests to verify material parameters
- Technology Screening for new materials based on Sustainability, CO2 Footprint and REACH/SCIP requirements
- Substitution of materials in use by comparable materials with improved characteristics for the scope of our applications
- Analysis and evaluation of empirical tests and analytics
- Cooperation and collaboration within a global R&D and factory network
What You Bring
- Successfully completed degree in material science or comparable
- Experience in industry with various technical challenges (within a manufacturing environment)
- Ideally, previous work experience in the area of transformers or switchgears
- Analytical skills and capability of practical application
- Fluency in English
- Flexible, self-motivated and focused on delivering results
- Willingness to travel (up to 30%)
