Job title: Manufacturing Engineer – Large Generator Rotors

A Snapshot of Your Day

Imagine being part of a dynamic team where you provide vital manufacturing solutions for our technically complex production department focused on large generator rotors. You will take the lead in offering technical support for production operations, including machining, winding, assembly, and balancing. Your role will involve developing innovative processes and tools that enhance rotor winding and assembly, driving continuous improvement in our manufacturing processes. Additionally, you will support the training of production employees, empowering them to excel in their roles and contribute to our success.

This role is based in our Charlotte, North Carolina, USA factory. The work schedule is a 3x12 weekend day shift Friday – Sunday, 5:30am – 6:00pm.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Hands-on troubleshooting and resolution of manufacturing issues related to processes, tooling, and quality non-conformances. Implement timely corrective and preventative actions.
  • Provide detailed work instructions for manufacturing processes used to manufacture new generator rotors and service customer-owned generator rotors.
  • Lead manufacturing process reviews with production employees. Assist with employee training related to product design / function, and critical-to-quality elements.
  • Design and procure tooling for rotor winding and assembly processes. Produce 3D CAD and/or 2D drawings for custom-design tooling, work with suppliers, and manage tooling records.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects to increase production efficiency, employee safety, and product quality.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related technical discipline with 3+ years of experience in manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of common hand tools
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with internal partners and external customers
  • 3D CAD experience with NX is desirable
  • Working knowledge of copper brazing is desirable
