A Snapshot of Your Day

The Laser Scan Engineer is a thorough, dedicated and technical individual, who is focused on supporting laser scanning projects. A primary support for the repair solutions and repair engineering team. Analyzing scan point cloud data and providing technical support to clients and internal teams. This role requires a strong understanding of laser scanning technology, data processing, and 3D modeling, with a specific focus on the unique requirements of turbomachinery applications. The objective is to ensure reliability, availability and efficiency of the equipment while prioritizing safety and quality to return the unit back to operating condition.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Perform on-site laser scanning of turbomachinery and components, ensuring proper equipment setup and calibration.
  • Process point cloud data using software like Polyworks to generate accurate 3D models and visual reports.
  • Provide technical support to service centers, including data interpretation and addressing scanning tools.
  • Collaborate with project teams to understand requirements and deliver actionable insights for performance optimization.
  • Present findings and technical reports to internal teams and clients, highlighting impacts on compressor efficiency.
  • Maintain high data quality standards, ensuring compliance with industry best practices in scanning and analysis.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical and/or software engineering (or equivalent field).
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of working experience modeling field, drafting, scanning etc.
  • Proven experience in laser scanning, surveying, or 3D modeling, preferably in the context of turbomachinery or industrial applications.
  • Proficiency in laser scanning software (e.g., Polyworks, Spatial Analyzer, or similar) and CAD software (e.g., Siemens NX, Autocad).
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, particularly in interpreting complex geometries and engineering specifications.
  • Flexibility to travel 20% of the working hours to other service centers to support scanning projects.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
