A Snapshot of Your Day
Junior Quality Assurance (QA) Technicians will provide inspection services both in-process and at final to drawing, specification and/or standard operating procedure within Charlotte Siemens Energy Plant. Detailed documentation of all findings and results via Quality Control Instruction (QCI)/Quality Control Chart (QCC), Quality Notification (QN) or Service Notification (SN) via Operating Information Landscape (OIL) and System Application and Products (SAP) software systems. This specific Junior Quality Technician role will support Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine & Generator on specified shift (1) on first 5x8 and (1) on 2nd (5x8)
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Collaborate with Level II personnel to learn Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) methods and accumulate hours for Level II certification in Visual Testing (VT), Penetrant Testing (PT), and Magnetic Testing (MT), requiring 210 hours each for VT and PT, and 280 hours for MT.
- Pursue certification in a fourth volumetric NDE method (Ultrasonic Testing, Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing, Eddy Current Testing, Radiography Testing, or Infrared) to qualify for potential NDE roles, with varying hour requirements (e.g., 840 hours for UT, ET, RT; 1470 hours for IR).
- Perform critical to quality (CTQ) dimensional measurements and document findings using Quality Control Charts/Instructions or PowerPoint presentations, ensuring compliance with specifications.
- Validate QA/NDE paperwork for accuracy in OIL, upload reports to SAP or Quality/Service Notifications (QN/SN), and build QNs as needed while coordinating with manufacturing/design engineers.
- Confirm completion of operations in OIL, validate manufacturing paperwork, communicate any out-of-spec conditions, and handle tasks assigned through quality or service notifications.
What You Bring
- High School Diploma or Equivalence.
- Must have completed the Career readiness certification requirement, required by Siemens Energy
- You must have Magnetic Testing and Penetrant Testing classroom training with certificate to apply for the Junior Quality Assurance (QA) Technician Role. Additional classroom training such as VT, Ultrasonic Testing (UT),ET, Radiography Testing and Infrared (IR) are also beneficial. To maintain the quality inspection role, you must become level II certified in VT, PT (Combustion) and MT (Gas Turbine, Generator & Steam). Job will be filled based on Qualification and not seniority. Interview will be required.
- Must be proficient with gauging (i.e., Inside Diameter (ID)/Outside Diameter (OD) mic’s, depth mic, caliper’s, no-go/go gauges, tri-mic’s, thickness gauges, weld gauges, etc.).
- Must have 2 years of manufacturing and/or quality experience.
- Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.
