A Snapshot of Your Day

The Production Supervisor will report to the Operations Manager and will play a lead role in the first Siemens Gamesa US Wind Manufacturing facility in Ft. Madison Iowa.  As part of the plant management team, the Production Supervisor will ensure quality and safety in production activities in a plant of approximately 400 hourly employees.  The successful candidate will have a strong desire to lead and influence how to provide quality manufacturing operations in the wind business.  The successful candidate must have a strong desire to participate in a new, existing and growing industry and be able to turn ambiguous situations into best practices. 

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Supervise and manage all production activities performed by all manufacturing personnel while maintaining a high degree of visibility and access to staff throughout a specific department & shift.
  • Train and develop employees in accordance to plant procedures.
  • Give instructions to employees regarding jobs to be completed and the proper method in which to complete them.
  • Supervise plant for cleanliness, safety, quality control and optimum production.
  • Confer with other supervisors and communicate with peers, subordinates and management in a professional manner to ensure assignments are being completed.
  • Maintain quality standards while taking appropriate corrective action measures to resolve deficiencies. 
  • Ensure all employees follow industry standard health and safety guidelines.
  • Provide motivation, support and guidance to all employees.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for production employees.
  • Investigate incidents to determine root cause.
  • Enforce Siemen Gamesa rules, policies and procedures with employees. 

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of related education and/or training
  • 3-5 year's experience in the manufacturing operations industry; prior experience in glass fiber manufacturing, autobody finishing and detailing, injection mold/vacuum saturation highly desirable but not required.
  • Knowledge of wind turbines is preferred.
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience.
  • Ability to work off shift and weekends
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and supervise activities of personnel and determine work assignments.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate production staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively organize and execute projects.
  • Must posses excellent verbal and written communication skills.
