Position Title: Field Service Technician SE GS EU&AF SO FST FS SA

A Snapshot of Your Day

  • Strong self-driven individual with sound back round of rotating equipment- Geared compressors, single shaft compressors, Gearboxes and Auxiliaries
  • The candidate will be working on Siemens Energy compressors in the Petro Chemical Industry & Mines in South Africa and abroad.
  • Deliver full range service and focused technical area of work, while clear input/ output relations and generic and or work specific guidelines, procedures are given or available.
  • Type of team culture - Open feedback culture and supporting team
  • Sound computer skills — MS word, excel, power point and MS projects


How You’ll Make an Impact  

  • Performing all minor / major and preventive maintenances works on Siemens Energy Compressors and auxiliaries.
  • Site preparation such as preparation and check of tools, parts and equipment required for the work execution.
  • Leading site activities, controlling technicians and coordination other subcontractors.
  • Ensure documenting of site activities by preparation of daily reports, field service reports, finding records and measurement protocols.
  • Performs day to day activities as part of a team or independently on duties as assigned.
  • Effectively identifies technical problems as they occur and takes appropriate actions to resolve including escalation of more complex issues to a higher level, providing expert advice and technical assistance to support staff and subordinate technicians of customers.
  • Develop strong relationships and interface with our customers as well as counterparts in regional headquarters.
  • Comply with the Siemens Energy standard EHS guidelines and quality standards.
  • Actively support with post outage activities such as lesson learn documentation, manpower survey and feedback on demand

What You Bring 

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or vocational School Degree in Mechanical Technician
  • 5 years of experience in field service environment
  • Experience working with rotating equipment on compressors and gearboxes.
  • Experience working at Petro Chemicals, Oxygen Plants and Mines will be an advantage.
  • General profound understanding of technical equipment and ability to work with/based on technical documentation.
  • Strong analytical skills with an affinity to technology and innovation in the service industry combined with a proactive and convincing attitude.
  • Knowledge of and working experience with rotating equipment especially steam turbines would be an asset.
  • Excellent communication skills, good command of written and spoken in English.
  • Sound computer skills — MS word, excel, power point and MS projects.
