A Snapshot of Your Day
Field Service Engineers (FSEs) are responsible for providing technical support to customers during the installation and commissioning of new mechanical equipment (such as centrifugal and reciprocating compressors), as well as during equipment maintenance and overhaul activities.
Internally, FSE need to support Contract Managers (CMs) by contributing to technical proposals, conducting clarifications and troubleshooting, gathering essential technical information, and helping prepare preliminary proposals. FSE diagnose and resolve mechanical issues encountered in the field, with engineering assistance from the SIEMENS-ENERGY Technical Support Group and the relevant manufacturing facilities.
This role requires strong communication skills and effective client interaction. The position also involves frequent travel, approximately 60–70%, to domestic and/or international job sites.
How You’ll Make an Impact
• Provide technical assistance on installation, startup, servicing, overhauls, and troubleshooting of SIEMENS-ENREY made equipment (i.e. centrifugal compressor, reciprocating compressor) throughout China.
• Ability to read mechanical prints and drawings, piping and instrumentation diagrams (PID’s), and blue prints.
• Write clear, concise daily reports to keep factory and field personnel accurately apprised of job progress and to protect the company from liability for problems resulting from customer deviations from SIEMENS-ENERGY standards.
• Complete the specified installation, commissioning and startup documentation prior to leaving each job-site.
• Maintain and submit in a timely manner accurate expense reports and time sheets.
• Arrange professional travel to job sites through Siemens Energy travel group per instructions received from the Field Service Manager or Field Service Coordinator.
• Instruct and train customers’ operators and/or maintenance personnel when requested or directed.
• Accurately record and report any problems encountered in the field to permit the factory to investigate and institute corrective action and to aid the factory in the equitable settlement of warranty claims.
• Report on competitive equipment and customers’ compressor needs. Be aware of potential opportunities to offer Siemens Energy products and services and be able to discuss these with clients
• Actively recommend customer’s purchase of desirable spare parts.
• Technical communication and clarification with client.
• Participate in technical clarification / negotiation meetings with design institutes, customers, represent and negotiate own scope.
• Support CM to hand over own scope to project execution.
• Develop and maintain historical project proposal database.
• Support and participate in SIEMENS-ENERGY quality programs.
• Adhere to all the requirements of the Employee Code of Ethics.
• Other tasks assigned by the manager.
What You Bring
• Bachelor or above degree in mechanical engineering.
• 3 yrs of above in dealing with installation, commissioning and maintenance of (Main) Rotating Equipment / or thorough technical hands on expertise.
• Fluent English writing/speaking.
• Ability to work in Team Environment. Must have ability to develop client relationships, display excellent listening skills, and maintain a positive attitude.
• Comfortable with travelling to sites by project requests.
