A Snapshot of Your Day
Join our dynamic calibration lab where your day begins with engaging discussions about employee insights, upcoming performance tests, and the development of innovative tools and practices. This is your time to think critically and cultivate ideas away from electronic distractions! As you navigate through your day, you will collaborate with project managers to plan field tests, develop calculations and procedures for thermal performance testing, and work closely with fellow engineers and technicians on instrument calibration and data acquisition. When you step into the field, you’ll travel to power plants worldwide, starting each day with hotel coffee in hand, conducting job safety analyses, and participating in site activity and customer meetings. Your primary objective will be to lead the instrumentation of gas and steam turbines, ensuring the collection of contractual thermal performance data while driving the tests.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Develop and deploy data acquisition (DAQ) test equipment and software.
  • Mentor and guide junior technicians in electrical and electronic applications and repairs.
  • Innovate new data acquisition processes and systems.
  • Support and execute performance tests in the field according to ASME, IEC, and DIN test codes.
  • Design and enhance calibration and data acquisition software systems.
  • Facilitate customer meetings for planning, test procedure development, and results discussion, and commit to a ZERO HARM work environment by working safely and diligently.

What You Bring

  • An AA or BA degree in engineering or a related field is preferred, along with 2+ years of direct experience in testing gas turbines, steam turbines, and combined cycle power plants.
  • Proven skills in electronic circuitry and computer programming.
  • Experience in training others and leading technical teams.
  • Willingness to travel internationally for testing, with travel expectations exceeding 50% and often on short notice with open-ended return dates.

A background security check is required for access to nuclear and chemical sites.

You must pass an annual Siemens Energy health screening for field service personnel.

General Engineering Technologists & Technicians support engineers in the design, modification, and improvement of products/processes. Activities include but are not limited to, identifying and recommending improvements/preventive actions, inspecting, testing, maintaining, repairing, and installing equipment and systems. Monitors processes, estimates costs, makes or verifies calculations, analyzes and interprets data. Tests new and modified products, processes, and/or systems. Specialization Match Note: Please review other Specializations in this Sub-family to determine if a more specific Specialization is appropriate. This Specialization should also be used by companies that have generic engineering technologist & technician classifications. Technologists apply engineering principles in the implementation of products, systems, and processes. This differs from Engineers who use theoretical aspects of engineering principles to research and conceptually design products, systems, processes, etc. Some countries may require Technologists to have a formal certification or registration and/or a formal Technologist Degree to practice as a Technologist. Professional Technicians have a Technical Degree and some incumbents have a combination of both education/experience. Para-Professional Technicians are responsible for maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting, and may not have any certifications/education but experience.
