A Snapshot of Your Day

We are seeking a Factory Layout Planner to own and execute plant layout design for an investment casting manufacturing facility. This role is hands‑on and CAD‑centric, responsible for creating, maintaining, and evolving detailed factory layouts that support Lean flow, safety, capacity growth, and facilities constraints.

The ideal candidate has strong industrial engineering fundamentals, CAD proficiency, and working knowledge of facilities systems, with the ability to translate production needs into practical, buildable layouts in a brownfield environment.

How You’ll Make an Impact

Layout Planning & CAD Ownership (Primary Focus)

  • Develop, maintain, and control 2D/3D factory layouts using AutoCAD (or equivalent):
  • Own the master plant layout, ensuring accuracy, revision control, and alignment with actual floor conditions.
  • Create concept, intermediate, and final layouts for: New equipment installations, Line rebalancing and Lean transformations, Capital projects and capacity expansions, Temporary and phased layouts during construction or moves
  • Support layout reviews with Operations, EHS, Quality, Maintenance, and Leadership using clear, to‑scale drawings.

Facilities & Utilities Integration

  • Incorporate facilities engineering considerations into layouts, including electrical power and panel locations, compressed air, gas, water, and cooling, process exhaust, dust/fume collection, and ventilation, foundations, pits, and equipment anchoring, overhead cranes, hoists, and lifting envelopes
  • Coordinate with Facilities and Maintenance to validate utility capacity and routing, equipment service and maintenance access, code compliance and constructability
  • Support equipment moves and installs, ensuring layouts are executable with minimal disruption.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3 or more years of direct experience in factory layout planning or industrial engineering in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong, hands‑on proficiency in AutoCAD (or similar CAD software) for factory layouts.
  • AutoCAD (required), Optional: Inventor, SolidWorks, Visio
  • Practical experience applying Lean manufacturing principles to physical layout design.
  • Experience working in brown- and greenfield plants with active production.
  • Experience with layout simulation tools (Plant Simulation, FlexSim, AnyLogic) or capacity modeling.
  • Comfortable spending time on the shop floor validating layouts against reality.
  • This position may require an export license from the Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security and/or the Department of State, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls. Issuance of any required license is a prerequisite for this position.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in investment casting, foundry, metals, or heavy manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with facilities systems (power, air, exhaust, cranes, foundations).
  • Knowledge of EHS requirements related to hot processes, material handling, and industrial equipment.
  • Lean/OpEx credentials (Six Sigma Green Belt, Kaizen leader, SLP methodology).
