As EHS Manager – GT SU Romania, you are accountable for leading, implementing, and continuously improving the Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) management system across Grid Technologies Romania operations. You ensure legal compliance, drive the Siemens Energy Zero Harm culture, and act as the main EHS interface towards internal stakeholders, contractors, customers, and authorities.
You work closely with management, project teams, and site personnel to ensure safe, compliant, and environmentally responsible execution of activities.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- EHS Leadership & Governance: Act as the EHS authority and focal point for GT SU Romania. Implement the Siemens Energy Zero Harm strategy and GT EHS framework at the country level, while advising management on EHS risks, performance, and improvement actions.
- Legal & EHS Compliance: Ensure compliance with Romanian EHS legislation, Siemens Energy standards, and ISO 14001 / ISO 45001 requirements. Monitor legal changes and translate requirements into practical actions for sites and projects, planning and performing internal audits, inspections, and compliance checks.
- Risk Assessment & Operational Safety: Oversee and validate risk assessments, LMRA, method statements, and safety planning for GT SU Romania activities, including substations, electrical works, and construction operations. Ensure effective mitigation measures are implemented, monitored, and verified on-site.
- Incident Management & Lessons Learned: Lead or supervise investigations of incidents, accidents, and near-misses. Ensure root cause analysis, corrective actions, and lessons learned are properly defined, tracked, and communicated, with timely and accurate reporting in Siemens Energy EHS systems.
- Environmental Management: Manage environmental aspects and impacts associated with GT SU Romania operations, including waste, emissions, soil, water, and noise. Drive environmental incident prevention and sustainable practices in line with Siemens Energy’s environmental objectives.
- Training & EHS Culture: Ensure the delivery of mandatory EHS training, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns. Actively promote leadership engagement, worker involvement, and a proactive reporting culture across sites and projects.
- Stakeholder & Contractor Management: Act as the EHS interface towards customers, contractors, suppliers, and authorities. Support contractor prequalification, onboarding, monitoring, and performance improvement, and participate in customer EHS meetings and audits as required.
- Performance Monitoring & Continuous Improvement: Monitor EHS KPIs, trends, and leading/lagging indicators. Initiate improvement actions based on data analysis, audit results, and lessons learned, contributing to regional and global Grid Technologies EHS initiatives.
What You Bring
- Education: You hold a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field, with a Master’s degree being an advantage.
- Experience: You have 7–10 years of EHS experience, including coordination or managerial responsibilities, with solid experience in electrical works, substations, construction, or industrial environments. You have a proven track record of implementing EHS management systems and driving behavioral safety improvements.
- Certifications: You possess an Occupational Health & Safety qualification according to Romanian legislation, along with First Aid / CPR / AED certification and Fire Safety training. ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 Internal Auditor certification is preferred, and NEBOSH / IOSH or equivalent international EHS certification is an advantage.
- Technical Competencies: You have strong knowledge of EHS legislation, electrical safety, risk assessment, and incident investigation, along with experience using EHS digital tools, reporting platforms, and audit processes.
- Soft Skills: You demonstrate strong leadership, communication, and influencing skills, with the ability to work independently and constructively challenge at all organizational levels. You approach tasks in a structured, analytical, and solution-oriented manner.
- Languages: You are fluent in Romanian and English, both spoken and written.
- Additional Information: You are willing to travel within Romania and Moldova and are committed to Siemens Energy values, promoting a strong Zero Harm culture.
