A Snapshot of Your Day
You will be Design Lead for nacelle canopy systems, leading design, supplier quality, and manufacturing excellence. The role involves collaborating with global teams, suppliers, and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver reliable, cost-efficient, and high-performance composite solutions. You will support product development, enable design improvements, and ensure alignment with engineering standards while contributing to innovation and continuous improvement.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Lead the design, development, and lifecycle management of composite canopy (nacelle cover) systems
- Drive material selection and structural validation of composite components (glass, carbon, hybrid)
- Define and maintain engineering standards, specifications, and best practices
- Work closely with Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) to qualify, develop, and audit suppliers
- Evaluate supplier capabilities and support sourcing decisions
- Resolve technical issues through root cause analysis and corrective actions
- Oversee manufacturing processes including vacuum infusion, RTM, prepreg, curing, and finishing
- Optimize tooling, processes, and product cost through value engineering
- Conduct failure analysis and implement robust design improvements
- Ensure compliance with international standards (IEC, ISO, APQP)
- Support field issues, warranty cases, and repair solutions
- Contribute to product standardization, modularization, and architecture optimization
- Collaborate across global functions to improve cost, quality, delivery, and risk
- Drive innovation through new materials, technologies, and digital tools
- Mentor engineers and support technical capability development across the team
What You Bring
- A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field would be preferred; relevant experience will also be considered
- 15+ years of experience in composite structures, preferably in wind, aerospace, or automotive industries
- Strong expertise in composite manufacturing processes and large structural components
- Proven experience working with global suppliers and cross-functional teams
- Proficiency in structural analysis tools such as ANSYS or Abaqus
- Solid understanding of quality systems, supplier development, and audits
- Knowledge of IEC and ISO standards, APQP, and related frameworks
- Cooperative and target-oriented mindset with strong stakeholder collaboration skills
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with global teams
