A Snapshot of Your Day
The Crane Management Lead is responsible for the strategic oversight and technical governance of crane and heavy lift operations across multiple projects. This role serves as the technical authority for crane selection and lift execution, ensuring safe, compliant, and cost-effective delivery. The Lead partners closely with Procurement, Project Management, and EHS teams to provide technical expertise that informs vendor selection, commercial strategy, and execution planning. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the right equipment, approach, and controls are in place for all lifting operations.
Please note that if the selected candidate lives in the Orlando, FL area, it is desired they will report into the Orlando office. However, we are open to 'remote hire' for qualified candidate who lives outside the Orlando, FL area.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Provide oversight of crane management activities across multiple projects
- Act as the primary escalation point for crane-related technical issues and risks
- Collaborate with PMO, Procurement, EHS, and Operations to ensure alignment and execution success
- Maintain project documentation in a monthly basis in a shared drive to be always ready for audits or references.
- Evaluate potential problems and technical hitches and develop solutions. Coordinate between stakeholders for problem resolving.
- Review project documents and evaluate risks or opportunities and provide suggestions to related stakeholders.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement to the Heavy Lift group while managing strategic projects assigned by the management.
- Participate in projects planning meetings and propose suggestions if necessary. Take meeting minutes when required.
- Develop a strong understanding of existing Master Service Agreements (MSAs) and vendor contract structures in addition to partnering with Procurement to support commercial negotiations and influence pricing strategies through technical expertise
- Support supplier evaluation, onboarding decisions, and performance reviews, not limited to serving as the final technical authority for crane selection and lift methodologies
- Validate crane requests to ensure the appropriate crane and configuration are selected for each project
- Review and approve lift plans for accuracy, feasibility, and compliance and provide guidance on complex or non-standard lifting operations
- Ensure all lifting activities comply with OSHA, ANSI, and internal safety standards
- Serve as the final technical authority for crane selection and lift methodologies including review and approval of lift plans for accuracy, feasibility, and compliance
- Ensure all lifting activities comply with OSHA, ANSI, and internal safety standards – making sure all crane-related documentation is complete, accurate, and audit-ready
- Maintain and enforce crane package and documentation standards
What You Bring
- Minimum of 2 years of technical experience in the field in Wind Energy is a plus.
- 5+ years of experience in crane management, heavy lift operations, or large-scale construction
- Advanced knowledge of crane operations, lift planning, and equipment selections.
- Strong understanding of applicable safety regulations (OSHA, ANSI, and internal standards)
- Proven ability to evaluate technical requirements and translate them into operational and commercial insights
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Hands-on crane operation or field heavy lift experience strongly preferred
