A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Commodity Manager, you become an essential contributor to Siemens Energy’s mission of energizing society and accelerating the energy transition. Your work directly supports the delivery of large‑scale Grid Technology projects by partnering with the suppliers who bring our infrastructure to life.

From sourcing complex electrical and mechanical equipment to securing critical components like transformers, switchgear, and high‑voltage assemblies, you help ensure our projects are delivered safely, reliably, and on schedule. You’ll work closely with engineering, project management, and quality teams, making equipment procurement a true value driver for the business.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Serve as the primary procurement interface for your assigned project equipment scope, acting as an integrated member of the project team and building strong, trust‑based relationships with key suppliers as well as engineering, project management, quality, and other internal partners.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies for complex electrical and mechanical equipment essential to FACTS and HVDC systems, including transformers, reactors, valves, control systems, switchgear, and high‑voltage components - ensuring reliability, performance, and grid stability.
  • Lead commercial evaluations and negotiations, partnering closely with technical experts to align specifications, manage risks, and secure competitive, high‑quality solutions that meet demanding project requirements.
  • Drive cost and efficiency improvements by bringing forward ideas, market insights, and a continuous‑improvement mindset to strengthen how we manage our equipment supply base.
  • Collaborate across functions - Procurement, Engineering, Project Management, Erection & Commissioning, Quality, and Logistics - to ensure seamless execution from specification through delivery, FAT, installation, and commissioning.
  • Utilize digital procurement tools to manage supplier data, run RFPs, issue purchase orders, track documentation, and support invoice processing with accuracy, transparency, and compliance.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Procurement, Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, or equivalent education, and 5+ years of progressive procurement experience in a project environment.
  • Experience in negotiation and exposure to project‑based or technical procurement environments, ideally involving complex electrical or mechanical equipment.
  • The ability to thrive in a global, matrixed organization, working effectively with diverse teams, cultures, and stakeholders.
  • A team‑oriented, customer‑focused mindset with strong organizational and time‑management skills.
  • A positive, solution‑driven mindset – you stay curious and adaptable in complex, high‑voltage project settings, while clearly conveying detailed technical and commercial information to diverse audiences.
  • Willing to travel to 20% domestically and internationally to suppliers, factories, and project sites.
