A Snapshot of Your Day!

As a CAM Engineer, you will be a key member of our Manufacturing Engineering Services team, responsible for developing and optimizing CNC programs for complex components. This role involves leveraging advanced CAM software, specifically UG/NX, to translate engineering designs into precise, efficient, and safe machining instructions for a variety of CNC machines including turning, milling, and mill-turn centers. Your primary impact will be on the shop floor, where your well-documented and verified programs will drive production quality and efficiency. You will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by analyzing manufacturing processes, reducing costs, and enhancing part quality. Your expertise will also be crucial in debugging postprocessors and documenting standard operating procedures to ensure consistency and excellence across manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate possesses a strong foundation in mechanical or industrial engineering, with significant hands-on experience in CAM programming. You are adept at interpreting complex technical drawings, knowledgeable in G/M codes and cutting tools, and skilled in using NC verification software like Vericut. A collaborative mindset and a proactive approach to problem-solving are essential for success in this role.

How You’ll Make an Impact.

  • Apply fundamental knowledge of geometry creation, toolpath generation and toolpath post processing for Turning, Wirecut, Milling (3-5 axes) & Millturn CNC Programming.
  • Provide safe and efficient CNC programs and all supporting documentation to the shop.
  • Verifies NC programs are in accordance to required drawings, specifications and quality system. Assist in documenting CNC standard operating processes and procedures.
  • Provide information as required to measure the CNC process. (Programming hours, part cycle times, etc.)
  • Create manufacturing 3D model and drawing for casting & forging components in Nx. To convert of old 2-D drawings to 3-D models by using NX
  • Assist in process improvements to reduce manufacturing costs and enhance the quality of parts being produced.
  • Provide input and assistance in the creation and debugging of postprocessors for a variety of machine/control configurations.
  • Assist in training CNC fundamentals & manufacturing process to others.
