Grid Technologies

About the Team
Our Grid Technologies division enables a reliable, sustainable, and digital grid. The power grid is the backbone of the energy transition. Siemens Energy offers a leading portfolio and solutions in HVDC transmission, grid stabilisation and storage, high voltage switchgears and transformers, and digital grid technology.
As the United Kingdom continues to prioritise its commitment to renewable energy, there is an increasing need for a significant expansion of its electricity transmission network. Renewable energy, including wind, solar, and hydropower, provides a cleaner and more sustainable alternative to fossil fuels. However, harnessing these energy sources often requires expansive infrastructure, like wind which are typically located in remote areas away from urban centres where energy demand is highest. To deliver this power effectively to where it's needed, Britain's electricity transmission network must be expanded and upgraded.
This position is situated within a team of engineers which specialises in Grid Access and HVDC Converter station electrical transmission projects. The team is composed of multifaceted talents, including dedicated Project Managers, Design Engineers, and Digital Engineers. They operate across civil and structural engineering and building services disciplines. Collaboratively, this team designs and implements coordinated solutions to establish the essential infrastructure needed for the installation and operation of high voltage electrical transmission systems.
