A Snapshot of Your Day

This request is for a replacement Kong API Technologist within the Service and Project Ownership team, driven by the need for business continuity. The role is positioned at an experienced professional and is crucial for maintaining and operating the organization's integration services and platforms in India. To ensure service stability and operational excellence, this role will focus on core areas of DevOps & Automation, Platform support and Kong API Management. This involves developing and maintaining automated deployment pipelines, managing infrastructure as code, and overseeing the lifecycle and support of APIs on key cloud platforms. Given the focus on automation and platform reliability, the ideal candidate will possess practical experience in DevOps methodologies. Essential qualifications include proficiency with Kong API & AI Gateways, Open API specification, CI/CD tools, scripting languages like Python, containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, and hands-on experience with cloud environments like AWS and Azure.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • API Platform Management and Support
    • Administer and support API gateway platforms and services hosted on cloud environments like AWS and Microsoft Azure.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to API performance, availability, and integration within production and pre-production environments.
    • Collaborate with development, quality assurance, and IT operations teams to facilitate the smooth integration and deployment of new software and services.
    • Monitor application health and performance metrics, implementing improvements to enhance system reliability, security, and operational efficiency.
    • Drive API design reviews and ensure compliance with SE API naming, documentation, and OpenAPI standards
    • Implement and continuously improve security controls (authentication/authorization patterns, policy enforcement, auditability).
  • DevOps and Automation
    • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins and Git to automate the build, testing, and deployment of API services.
    • Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) with tools such as Terraform and Ansible for automated provisioning and configuration of cloud infrastructure.
    • Create and maintain automation scripts using Python or Bash to streamline operational tasks, system monitoring, and recovery procedures.
    • Manage containerized applications using Docker and orchestrate them with platforms like Kubernetes to ensure scalability and resilience.
    • Standardize deployment automation and reduce manual operational effort through CI/CD alignment for Kong configuration, API onboarding, and controlled promotion across environments.
    • Improve predictability and reduce lead time for API onboarding and platform changes (while maintaining compliance gates).
