A Snapshot of Your Day (position overview)

The Siemens Energy U.S. Customs Team supports in all customs related matters, ensuring full compliance with applicable customs regulations and internal requirements in an optimal and efficient manner. U.S. Customs Regulatory & Advisory Manager provides regulatory guidance and risk mitigation on matters impacting Siemens Energy’s Customs related activities. This role will provide support to business areas and internal customers and ensure compliance pursuant to Customs Regulations and ICP for import, export, and supply chain security.

This position reports to the head of Customs North America and based in Orlando, FL, and may be considered in Charlotte, NC, or Houston, TX.

How You’ll Make an Impact (responsibilities)
  • Manage the implementation of standards of U.S. import and export compliance per Siemens Energy Internal Control Program requirements. Initiate strategies to ensure Company’s compliance with U.S. laws governing import, export, and trade agreement activities. Manage collaboration with business areas, locations, subsidiaries and SE Customs teams regarding import/export procedures and requirements.
  • Monitor and interpret global import regulations, translating shifts into operational plans to safeguard compliance and minimize disruption. Support in research and preparation of binding rulings, scope rulings, post-entry amendments, CF28 and CF29’s.
  • Provide expert-level knowledge of HTS classification, valuation, FTA and country of origin determination, ADD/CVD scope determinations, Section 232 and 301, CTPAT, Incoterms® and other trade compliance topics.
  • Directly supervises, mentors, develops, and assists the SE U.S. Customs regulatory & advisory team members in the day-to-day tasks.
  • Develop strong partnerships with SE U.S. business areas, communicating with functions across the organization regarding all transactional operational import and export activities. Executing continuous improvement to standardize processes and develop best practices. Support implementation of regulatory customs requirements for all SE U.S. businesses and its affiliates.
  • Lead scalable, integrated program and project management initiatives from concept to execution. Create policies, procedures, and training programs to promote compliance awareness and continuous improvement.

Export Control Requirement:
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

What You Bring (requirements)
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of education and experience in related field. Advanced degree is preferred. Minimum of 10+ years of people management and leadership experience in U.S. Customs work. Licensed Customs Broker is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of CFR 15 and 19, complex customs valuation topics including value reconciliation and assists, U.S. HTS classification, Section 232 and 301, CTPAT, Incoterms®. Proven ability to manage global import programs and resolve audits or regulatory inquiries.
  • Ability to identify and propose corrective actions to resolve import and export issues as they relate to internal systems, processes, customer, suppliers, and service providers. Global Trade Management technology/ERP experience such as: SAP (GTS or GTM) or other global trade management software.
  • Ability to collaborate with all levels within the organization to develop and deploy effective solutions and broader strategies. Strong written and verbal communication / interpersonal skills. Exceptional Presentation skills.
