A Snapshot of Your Day

The Steam Turbine Engineering team you join supports the steam turbine and steam turbine valve products for its entire life; from initial design, to manufacture, to operation, to service, and into major upgrades. This team provides R&D for new and service products, new apparatus customer order engineering, and field & factory service of steam turbines, valves and related auxiliary components.

As a steam turbine product designer on this team, you will have broad responsibilities to ensure the integrity of Siemens-Energy’s steam turbine product definition. Daily tasks will vary but your primary responsibilities will be to develop steam turbines, valves, auxiliary components for new units, modernization, and service applications. Support our steam turbine product definition or modification to support field or factory service orders. Develop new products, new upgrades, or new service solutions in R&D programs. Support new unit customer order engineering. With all assigned projects, you will collaborate with a cross-organizational team to satisfy our customers and help Siemens-Energy be the world’s top energy sector company.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Collaborates with design engineers to develop steam turbines, valves, auxiliary components for solutions in new apparatus, modernization, and service applications. Designs include development of upgrades, repair methods, and new designs.
  • Leads in the creation of sophisticated 2D and 3D layouts and detail drawings for Steam Turbine, Valves, and Auxiliary orders and projects. Participates in the creation of sophisticated drawings to suit engineering changes and processes engineering change requests. Compiles materials and specification sheets. Reviews engineering drawings and supporting documents to ensure they meet design/drafting standards.
  • Responsible for the creation of component drawings, transmittal drawings, ordering documents and bills of materials associated with various steam turbine components and configurations
  • Responsible for the creation of steam turbine design information that will be used by, engineering, manufacturing, supply management and/or the end customer. Prepares documents to support design reviews and participates in such reviews. Prepares and/or checks steam turbine component manufacturing drawings. Ensures accurate form, fit, and function of parts and assemblies.
  • Creates and/or checks electronic models for analysis, and product definition. Create or modify Bills of Material (BOM) in SAP. Develops and releases for manufacture all product definition documents including graphics, and product’s process specifications. Provides assistance with gathering, recording and maintaining engineering specific information.
  • Keeps management advised of technical, schedule, and cost issues associated with modeling and product definition effort. Prepares product definition structure to accurately update unit configuration after service repair orders.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field from an accredited university/college. Will consider candidate with advance degree that has equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five or more years of related product definition, engineering work experience. Candidates with more years of experience can be considered for a higher level. Alternatively, candidates with fewer years of experience can be considered for a lower level.
  • Expertise with 3D Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) program and the creation of engineering documents and reports. Project or team experience with demonstrated delivery of work in a technical environment. Ability to handle different projects and goals and to lead / interact with intra-organizational teams (e.g.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Logistics, Projects, Procurement and Suppliers to acquire consensus in developing new apparatus, modification, and repair product definition design details. Strong communication and collaboration skills required to work with internal teams, including field and factory personnel, engineering teams, and management across multiple sites and countries.
  • Knowledge and experience in design and, or repair of products.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

  • Expert SAP and TeamCenter user, or other, similar IT platforms
  • Experienced with 3D Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) programs, NX and, or CREO desired
  • Familiarity with steam turbine products, or repair methods for major equipment a HUGE plus
