Technical Sales at Siemens Energy
This role is an addition to the Siemens Energy Gas Services Sales team for the Southern & Eastern Africa region, created to ensure business continuity. As a Specialist Professional, this position is vital for driving the sales of technical products, services, and installations to key customers in a complex and strategic market. To achieve these business aims, the role is structured around three core areas: Technical Solution Sales, Strategic Account Management, and Sales Planning. This focus ensures the role not only executes sales transactions but also develops long-term, technically-grounded customer solutions and manages the entire sales lifecycle from prospecting to forecasting. Given the focus on complex technical sales, the ideal candidate will be a recognized subject matter expert with extensive experience in the energy or gas services industry. Key requirements include a strong foundation in engineering or a related technical field, proven success in developing and negotiating large-scale contracts, and the ability to manage complex projects with limited oversight.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- 50% Technical Solution Sales & Development
- Research and analyze customer technical specifications and requirements to align with company's product and service offerings.
- Develop comprehensive technical proposals, including potential specifications, pricing considerations, and contract requirements for complex customer solutions.
- Prepare and conduct high-impact technical sales briefings and product demonstrations for both customer and internal company representatives
- Act as the primary technical interface between the customer and internal engineering, manufacturing, and program management teams to ensure solution feasibility and delivery.
- 30% Strategic Account & Relationship Management
- Manage and cultivate relationships with assigned customers across Southern & Eastern Africa (including South Africa, Mozambique, Angola) to drive long-term business growth.
- Proactively investigate new applications or potential improvements to products by collaborating directly with customers to understand their evolving needs.
- Serve as a subject matter expert, providing technical guidance and support to resolve complex customer issues and build trust.
- 20% Sales Planning & Execution
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans for the assigned territory and product portfolio to meet or exceed sales targets.
- Prepare and maintain accurate sales forecasts, providing insights into market trends and competitor activity.
- Coach and review the work of lower-level professionals, delegating tasks and managing large projects or processes with limited oversight.
What You Bring
· Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial) or a related technical field is required.
- Extensive experience (typically 8+ years) in a technical sales, application engineering, or business development role.
- Proven track record of success in the energy, power generation, or oil & gas industry is highly preferred.
